Woolbrook Homestead doesn't perform for a camera. It's a working property with the kind of quiet that takes a few hours to register. We arrived early on a Saturday morning, and the first three hours of footage are mostly of light moving across paddocks — which is exactly what Caitlin and Andrew wanted.

The ceremony was held at the back of the property, the celebrant standing with the western gums behind him, the guests arranged in a loose semi-circle. There was wind, the kind that sometimes complicates audio, but Andrew's vows held the room without effort.

What we'll remember most is how clearly this was a family wedding. Caitlin's grandmother gave the first speech. Andrew's mother gave the last. Both were short, both were specific, both made guests laugh and cry in roughly equal measure. The film is, in many ways, a film about the people behind them.
